Archbishops' Letter

Sermon Series 2017

As part of Choral Evensong, we are very pleased to announce the preachers for the forthcoming Sermons Series

This is now the third sermon series we have organised and they prove to be very popular. This year wwe have some excellent speakers - and some collaborative events

 DO please take note of the venues !!

 

Choral Evensong is at 6.15pm every third Sunday of the month, it features our excellent choir, and will includea special sermon from the series as follows:

 

February the 19th:

the Rev’d Richard Lamey & the Rev’d Patrick Mukholi

Richard has been the Rector of the Parish of St Paul’s, Wokingham since 2012. He is also Assistant Area Dean of Sonning. Patrick came to the parish as Associate priest in January 2017. Before that he was Associate Priest of Penhill in Swindon.

 

March the 19th: the Rev’d Ben Kautzer

Ben is the Assistant Curate of the parish of St Nicolas, Earley. He hails from California and came to England to pursue a PhD. He is still here partly because he met Jo and they fell in love. He was ordained with Kate Harrison as deacon in 2015 and priest in 2016.

 

May the 21st: the Rev’d Deiniol Morgan

(shared jointly with All Saints Church, Wokingham - at St Paul's)

Deiniol is the Anglican Chaplain of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He became an Army Chaplain in 2008 after time as a parish priest and as Minor Canon at Westminster Abbey.

June the 18th: the Rev’d Nicholas Cheeseman

(at Woosehill Church)  

Nicholas currently serves as Area Director of Ordinands for Berkshire and Oxford, having previously been a parish priest at St. Mark & All Saints, Reading.  He has been married to Anne for 24 years.

 

July the 16th: the Rev’d Catharine Morris

Catharine is the Parish Development Advisor for the Berkshire Archdeaconry, working with parishes and clergy to help them flourish. She was previously a vicar in Reading, after training for ordination alongside Fr Richard but at a rival theological college.

 

September the 17th: the Rev’d Catherine Bowstead

Catharine has been a Methodist Minister for the last 23 years and after 18 years of ministry in Essex returned to her home county of Berkshire in Sept 2015 to be the Methodist Minister in Wokingham, including Woosehill Church. She’s married to Mike and they have two young adult children.

 

                                                                                                    October the 15th: the Rev’d Alexander Faludy 

                                                                                (focus on Luther to mark 500 years since the start of the Reformation)                  

Alexander is Vicar of Wallsend St. John near Newcastle. He studied Theology at Cambridge and  Oxford and trained for the priesthood at Mirfield.  He is a past Trustee of the Anglican-Lutheran Society and has represented the C of E in ecumenical dialogue with the German Lutheran and Reformed Churches.

 

November the 20th: the Rev’d Canon Joanna Collicutt

Joanna is the Oxford Diocesan Advisor for the Spiritual Care of Older People and the Karl Jaspers Lecturer in psychology of religion and spirituality at Ripon College Cuddesdon. She also ministers in a west Oxfordshire parish.
